The short version
Write boldly; treat people well. This is a home for fiction, including dark and mature fiction. It is not a place to attack the people you share it with.
Fiction is allowed to be fiction
- Strong language is fine. Swearing in dialogue or narration is not against the rules.
- Dark themes are fine when they serve the story: war, violence, cruelty, grief, crime and conflict are part of storytelling.
- Use content warnings for material some readers may want to avoid, such as graphic violence or abuse.
What is not allowed
- Harassment and threats against real people, including other members.
- Hate: slurs or content attacking people for who they are, when directed at real people or used to demean rather than to tell a story.
- Sexual content involving minors, in any form, real or fictional.
- Non-consensual intimate content about real people.
- Illegal content, including incitement to violence.
- Spam, scams, malicious links and mass self-promotion.
- Impersonation of other members, staff or the website.
- Plagiarism: content copied from other authors or franchises presented as your own.
Context matters
A slur spoken by a villain in a story is different from a slur aimed at another member. Moderators consider context, and direct attacks on members are treated more strictly than words within fiction.
Canon and community
Community writing is welcome even when it contradicts canon. Disagreement about the universe is part of the fun; personal attacks are not.
Enforcement
Moderators may add warnings, hide or remove content, restrict commenting, or suspend or ban accounts. You can ask for a review of a moderation decision.
